Naomi's journey to the professional stage began as so many others did, with ballet classes from the age of 3. She very swiftly fell in love with ballet, dance and movement but she also quickly developed a passion for entertaining others. After taking classes in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary and more alongside her education, GCSE and A-Level dance; Naomi moved to London at 18 years old to pursue a professional career in dance. Initially, Naomi joined an apprenticeship program with a contemporary dance company, before completing her BaHons in Contemporary Dance at TrinityLaban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
Whilst completing her dance training Naomi struggled with multiple injuries and was facing a future without dance as her career. In an attempt to find new ways of moving and entertaining, Naomi started attending classes in aerial silks and hoop. The joy of aerial was instantaneous and the excitement of flying was intensely addictive. For 16 months Naomi spent every spare moment and every penny she could into training in a range of aerial and circus disciplines before confirming her first performance contract as an aerial silks artist at The Forest Fairy in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs for Paul Holman Associates Pantomimes at the Pomegranate Theatre in Chesterfield.
After completing her first contract in the pantomime Naomi moved to Mallorca to spend six months with a circus show that toured the island hotels. After a repeat contract for pantomime and for hotel shows, this time in Gran Canaria, Naomi bought her first caravan and began working with traditional circuses, completing a Christmas contract with Circus Ginnett, three summer seasons with James Richards Circus and two seasons with Circus Fantâsia in the Netherlands. Naomi's personal career highlight is her work with Festival of the Dead. This rock circus party show was a celebration of big characters, dedicated artists and a true fire and passion to create. For three consecutive years they completed an autumn tour of arenas and venues, traveling across the country on a tour bus like actual rock stars! These sell-out shows were high-energy, full of fully unleashed eccentric artists performing high level skills to an epic rock soundtrack with live musicians and DJ. Audiences ranged from 1000-5000 and venues included The Brighton Centre, O2 Academy Glasgow, Liverpool Olympia, Brixton Academy, O2 Academy Bournemouth, The Telegraph Building Belfast, O2 Academy Leicester and NX Newcastle.
Alongside her work with circuses and touring shows Naomi has performed as an independent circus artists for events, parties, festivals and theatre shows. Noteworthy appearances include Glastonbury, Download, Zwarte Cross and Mañaña Mañaña festivals and theatre shows such as Gareth Gates Christmas Cracker and Diva of the Decades. As well as events such as Dennis Welch's Charity Ball and Move it dance conference.
From corporate parties, weddings, and awards ceremonies to family fundays, football stadiums and firework displays.
Naomi's journey with educating started in her teen years when she began assisting with younger students dance class at a local dance school. Over her teenage years Naomi also had experience teaching dance to adults and young people in various schools and community settings throughout her years finishing school and A-levels.
During her apprenticeship with Springs Dance Company, Naomi studied dance teaching and experienced teaching children in various schools across the country. In addition, she chose a teaching elective in her final year at Laban, taking a more in depth approach to teaching movement and understanding more broad ways of communicating movement to others.
Since beginning her journey with aerial and circus arts Naomi has worked collaboratively with a wide range of skilled artists, and shared skills with her colleagues. And in the past 6 years has gained experience as a TA to more established educators, has taught group classes, workshops and private coaching to a wide variety of students and continued to further her education through CDP courses.
